It's the time of year again to go catch a glimpse of Vancouver Fashion Week!
The event takes place on March 19 - 24, 2013 at the Chinese Cultural Center in Chinatown and you can purchase your tickets here. You get to preview fall and winter collections from local and international designers.
I'm very excited to attend this year! I'm most likely attending the weekend shows with some fellow bloggers. I realized I broke my camera and I will definitely need to hustle and find a working camera to document my experience. If you are impatient and cannot wait for VFW to arrive, please visit their blog for your fashion needs.
Reasons why you should go to Vancouver Fashion Week:
1) You are mesmerized by runway shows: the clothes, the hair, the models, the make up, the background music... the whole works!
2) You may be asked to get a photo taken of your stylish outfit by photographers
3) To mingle with other fashion enthusiasts and industry members
4) Support local Vancouver designers :)
5) To see what the fall and winter trends will be before the summer starts

ReplyDeleteDon't forget it's also about getting media and buyers...getting pictures on the runway of your 'fab' outfit...haha does any other legitimate fashion shows let you do that...NOPE!
ReplyDeleteYup! That's one of my reasons under the industry category. However, those reasons I posted are more for why regular joes, like myself, should attend VFW.
DeleteGetting buyers and media to attend VFW is definitely a major aspect of VFW as well. It allows the designers showcasing their collection to get noticed. Since VFW is smaller compared to the big Fashion Week in New York, Milan and Japan, it would be easier to snap a quick photo of ones outfit on the runway.
Vancouver should appreciate VFW because it's the only big Fashion Week Event that we have. We may not be as big as the Fashion Week events in New York, but it certainly does not make VFW illegitimate. VFW is still young (at approximately in it's 13th year - I believe) so there is still time for VFW to blossom into a bigger event.
Did you end up going?! Seems fun, something always comes up but hopefully I can go next year.
